Most of the information you need you will know off the top of your head, and with these 3 documents you can quickly and easily compare your current rate to see if and how much money you can save.

  • Driver’s License(s) – In order to get the most accurate quote, you will need your driver’s license number.
  • Registration Card(s) – This is one of the easiest places to get your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
  • Current Insurance Policy Declarations “Dec” Page – Your Dec Page is the part of your policy that has your personal information on it… name, address, phone number, your tort selection, your liability coverage, etc… (and many times your VIN is listed here too)

IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR COVERAGE! Too often people have insurance policies, but do not have a fundamental understanding of the coverage they chose… do you have full tort or limited tort and why? Do you have un-insured and under insured motorist coverage, and is the value of the coverage matched up to your bodily injury coverage? If not, why? If your car is totaled, but you owe more on it than it is worth, will your insurance company pay the difference? What if I lend my car to someone and they get into an accident with my car?

I will take as much time as you need to understand your policy. You don’t need to be an expert, but the absolute worst time to learn about how your policy works is when you have a claim, and that’s unfortunately when most people do.
